Motorists across the globe are excited as the 2020 World Car of the Year finalists have been revealed. The BMW X5, Porsche 911, and Peugeot 208 all made it onto the list. The finalists who are competing for the 2020 World Car of the Year award were revealed at the Auto Expo 2020, which took place in India. The list of vehicles in the running for this accolade has been narrowed down to ten finalists. The other categories include the 2020 World Urban Car Finalists, the 2020 World Luxury Car Finalists, and the 2020 World Performance Car Finalists. Five finalists were chosen for each of these sub-categories.
The leading vehicles in each category were selected by 86 journalists from across the globe. The process was carried out by holding a secret ballot where each journalist evaluated the vehicles that were under consideration for the awards. The manufacturers that managed to make the cut come from Europe, Korea, and Japan.
In 2019, the Jaguar I-Pace took centre stage. Besides achieving the title of World Car of the Year, this impressive vehicle also won the World Green Car award. This was a noteworthy achievement as it was the first time Jaguar Land Rover has landed first place for their vehicle’s eco-friendly design. To top it all off, Jaguar was also placed first in the World Car Design award.
The next announcement will be made at the Geneva International Motor Show. This event takes place at the beginning of March and it is where the top three finalists will be announced. The 2020 World Car Person of the Year will also be revealed. The end results will be announced at the New York International Show, and you’ll have to wait until the 8 April to find out who will receive the honour of the World Car of the Year Title.
