With the Suzuki GSXR 1000 made to make you feel like you own the track, and the GSXR 750 boasting an outstanding performance, this series from Suzuki is for the fast and brave.
A look at the Suzuki GSXR 750
Debuting in 1985, the GSXR 750 (F) featured a lightweight, aluminium alloy frame with an air and oiled cooled engine. The G model released in 1986 has a 25 millimetre longer swing arm, effectively helping to improve the bike’s handling. By 1987 the Suzuki GSXR 750 (H) received an upgraded 41 millimetre front fork with New Electrically Activated Suspension (NEAS) and a fuel tank capacity increase (increasing the tank capacity to 21 litres).
In 1988 the hot Suzuki GSXR 750 for sale received its first major revision that included body work, chassis design and a revision of the engine. This year saw the introduction of the short-stroke oil-cooled engine displacing 748 cc. Two limited editions were also released in this year – the GSX-R750R which was a racing homologation model and the GSXR 750 RK, also known as the RR with only 500 models produced, 200 of these going to Europe.
In 1989 minor changes to the GSXR 750 (K) included changes to graphics, a modified lower bodywork as well as exhaust silencers.
1990 saw changes to the bike’s suspension, its body work, the engine, chassis and the brakes. It was also this L model that first came with inverted forks fitted standard – except for the models in the United States which kept the conventional forks up until 1991.
In 1991 the Suzuki GSXR 750 for sale (M model) weighed 15 kilograms heavier than the previous year models and noticeable changes included the faired in headlamps and slanted nose – both features specifically designed to reduce drag.
1992 saw the introduction of the GSXR 750 (N) which featured the new water-cooled engines except for the models released in the US which were basically the same as the M models but with different graphics and paint. Aside from featuring the new water-cooled engine, the WN models of 1992 featured a revised suspension, frame and revised bodywork.
While the 1993 GSXR 750 (WP) saw small cosmetic changes and a slight increase in power, the 1994 WR model boasted a reduced power as well as a lighter weight and featured inverted forks that had been blue anodized.
Another limited edition reached the market between 1994 and 1995 (the SPR limited edition that was 10 kilograms lighter than the WP models) boasting wide mouthed TRM40 carbs, magnesium engine covers, six piston brake callipers, a close-ratio gearbox and an alloy water pump.
1995 saw the release of the WS model – the last of the Suzuki models to make use of the double-cradle. In 1996 Suzuki introduced the SRAD – Suzuki Ram Air Direct – design which entailed air intakes at the front that forces air directly into the airbox.
The GSXR 750 (T) of 1996 saw a new twin-spar frame, a new and compact engine using magnesium covers on the cylinder head, the clutch cover and the starter motor, helping to reduce the motorcycle’s weight. The 1997 V model saw small internal changes as well as improved aerodynamics.
The 1998 W model saw an electronic fuel injection with the 1999 X models saw only small modifications that ranged to include a couple of internal tweaks and new graphics. A noteworthy accomplishment for this model year is that it won the Sport Bike of the Year award.
In 2000 the Suzuki GSXR 750 for sale featured a set of changes ranging to include a stronger, smaller engine, a narrower redesigned cylinder head, an increased cooling capacity and an upgraded fuel injection. Known as the Y model, it also had a more aerodynamic body, a newly designed instrument cluster, a redesigned twin spar frame, front brakes that are lighter in range and an extended swingarm.
The K1, released in 2001, saw changes to transmission parts (due to a design defect) and an upgrade to the input shaft as well as other parts. The K2 GSXR 750 released in 2002 featured an adjustable swingarm, a fully brushed exhaust and changes to the EFI.
The 2003 K3 GSXR 750 for sale featured colour changes while the 2004 model year saw a more refined version of the GSXR 750 2000 to 2003 models. Awesome changes introduced with the K4 model included titanium valves, four-piston Tokico brakes radially mounted, and a black powder coated swingarm and frame.
Celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2005, Suzuki released the GSXR 750 featuring a custom paint job, sunex brake rotors and a custom exhaust. From 2006 to 2007 the GSXR 750 K6 and K7 models were released. These models had a new frame, motor and swingarm. These models boasted lightweight and compact four-stroke, four-cylinder liquid cooled engines helping to reduce weight, increase power delivery and deliver optimum combustion efficiency. These models also featured twin-wall hallow camshafts, titanium valves, aluminium spring retainers and large intake and exhaust efficiency.
The 2008 to 2010 GSXR 750 models (which included the K8, K9 and L0) introduced new colour choices, reviewed headlights and multi-mode power adjustments. The latest Suzuki GSXR 750 for sale includes models years from 2011 to 2015 spanning from L1 to L5, and is also currently the longest produced models in this series.

The Suzuki GSXR 1000
Entering the market to replace the Suzuki GSXR 1100, the Suzuki GSXR 1000 made its debut back in 2001. Releasing the K1 and K2 in the 2001 model year, the GSXR 1000 featured a redesigned GSXR 750 engine, a gear-driven counter balancer and newly designed pistons that had a lower crown.
Achieving a 1.8 kilogram lighter exhaust than the GSXR 750 by using titanium for the down pipe as well as the interior of the silencer. The 2002 model stayed mostly the same, only introducing new stickers, new colours and modifications, among others, to the front axle, fuel pump and torque link.
It was also in 2002 when the manual fast-idle was replaced by the STV servo.
2003 saw great improvements for the Suzuki GSXR 1000 models (K3 and K4) in terms of power, weight and handling. Its aluminium alloy frame saw a new design as well as enforcement in the form of internal ribs.
The 2003 model had more torque coupled with better throttle response and an exhaust system entirely made of titanium. The taillight was replaced with LEDs and the headlights of the 2003 GSXR 1000 was mounted vertically.
For 2004, the Suzuki GSXR 1000 for sale stayed almost unchanged.
2005 and 2006 saw the release of the K5 and K6 models. The GSXR 1000 for sale now boasted a redesigned chassis and engine. Weighing in at two kilograms less than the previous model, the 2005 model featured new brakes and a new titanium silencer.
The 2006 year model remained mostly unchanged.
Revealed at the Paris Motor Show, the 2007 K7 GSXR 1000 was 6.4 kilograms heavier than the 2006 model – caused by emission regulations and its new exhaust system. It featured an updated chassis and engine, three different engine mapping configurations and a hydraulic clutch.
Again, the 2008 model remained mostly unchanged from its 2007 predecessor.
