Bigger and noisier than ever, the SA Bike Festival is back. This action packed festival is scheduled to take place at Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit in May this year. The fact that visitors will get the chance to ride the latest bikes at the festival makes this event stand out from the crowd.

If you have purchased your ticket, you can book a test ride online. With 50 models to choose from, you are spoilt for choice. There are 2500 time slots set aside for test rides with 7 manufacturers showcasing their latest bikes.

Activities and Attractions at the SA Bike Festival

From test rides to live music, there are plenty of things to do at the South Africa Bike Festival. Dirtbike enthusiasts will have the opportunity to experience what the latest dirt bikes from top manufacturers have to offer. This section of the event will showcase bikes from the likes of Honda, Suzuki and Yamaha by giving you a first-hand experience of their capabilities on a two kilometre track.

Not only will you be able to view awesome bikes at this year’s festival, you will also get the chance to see some of the well-known personalities of the biking world. The renowned judge Frank Sander as well as Grant Mcnicol and Malcolm Powrie will be part of the award ceremony at the SA Bike Festival. The best bikes will be awarded trophies in 14 categories.

The Pride of Ownership display is an unforgettable part of these motorcycle festivals in South Africa which includes the 30 bikes that have been selected to showcase the progression of the motorcycling industry over the last 132 years.

Test rides aren’t the only action that you will see on the circuit. Visitors will also be able to watch the Monster Energy Flight Night freestyle motocross demonstration. Another highlight of the event is the races that are scheduled to take place at 2pm on Saturday and Sunday.

A charity ride departs from Fairlands shopping centre on Sunday morning and finishes at the circuit. Proceeds of the charity ride are donated to the Ride for a Reason and Claw and Paw charities.

Bikes and Brands

The SA Bike Festival gives you the opportunity to see the latest bikes from BMW, Suzuki, Ducati and Honda. KTM, Yamaha and Harley-Davidson will be represented at this event. You can also get to know up and coming manufacturers such as Can-Am as well as Zontes.

You can expect to see the eight latest Ducati bikes. One of these bikes will be available to test drive if you are quick enough to book a spot before the slots are taken. There will be a variety of Harley-Davidson bikes on display including the XG750A Street Rod. Another exciting new release from this renowned bike manufacturer is the Road King Special. Make sure that you visit the ‘Naked Workshop’ to see Harley technicians in action. Other highlights of the workshop include prize giveaways as well as live entertainment.

The Vitpilen 401 White Arrow will be showcased by Husqvarna at the festival. With the bike only due for release in February 2018 this is a great opportunity to get a sneak peak of everything that it has to offer.

Joey Evans will make an appearance at the KTM stand. Not only will you be able to see the Dakar hero, KTM will also showcase the 1290 Super Duke R. Yamaha fans won’t be left out as the cutting-edge R6 will be on display.

Must-know details of the 2017 SA Bike Festival

The South Africa Bike Festival runs from the 26th May to the 28th May 2017. The gates open at 11am and close at 5pm on Friday. The event times are 9am to 9pm on Saturday and 9am to 6pm on Sunday.

Entrance for the day will set you back R200. If you want more than a standard ticket you can opt for the Sumting’s Upgrade which will set you back R495. This package offers you premium parking and quick entrance to the event. You will also be able to get the best view from the pit roof.

The advantages of this package don’t stop there as you will receive a voucher for the renowned Sumting Fresh food truck. The VIP Sky Lounge packet costs R995 and it includes pit roof access and a complimentary lunch. VIP ticket holders will also get advance access to the test rides.
