The Opel Corsa has not done too well in South Africa as of late. This was largely blamed on the global recession in 2008. In response to this, Corsa has come up with an entirely new Opel Corsa for sale. Not a single part has been carried over from the previous models. The engine is new, the body is stiffer, improved suspension, there is improved styling and Corsa has thrown in a whole lot of new gadgets. Let’s take a look at the new Opel Corsa 2015.
On the face of the New Corsa
The new Opel Corsa has its exterior revamped with contours that have been uniquely sculpted and nice sporty looks. The roofline flows nicely into the car’s powerful looking rear proportions. The new grille and headlights also flow nicely into the rest of the vehicle. The top end model Cosmo comes with Bi-Xenon headlights that make nighttime driving effortless and then you get LED Daytime Running Lights that come on automatically so you are also visible during the day.
This Corsa for sale sits on some very nicely designed 15 or 16 inch rims that have specifically been designed to reduce unsprung weight the weight of the suspension and wheels so the car feels more agile.
On the inside
The interior is very similar to the Opel Adam. This is a very good thing as the Adam is a very stylish car. All of the dials and interior accents have been newly designed and the inside is very spacious. The seating is comfortable and deeply contoured so they support the driver nicely. In the Cosmo model, the interior is illuminated with soft, energy saving, red accent lighting system. All models have very stylish trims with the top end model Cosmo having unique GRAPHIK Black Cloth and elegant Morrocana Side Bolsters.
There are a few nice gadgets in the Opel Corsa for sale like airbags and tyre-pressure monitors but nothing comes close to the award winning IntelliLink infotainment center. The system incorporates smartphones and apps into the car’s dashboard. Its full compatible with Andriod and Apple based phones. This system has a 19cm colour screen and allows for audio streaming via Bluetooth and USB. BringGo is the navigation app in the new Opel Corsa. When you download a navigation map, it is saved directly to your phone. This means that you don’t have to have constant signal. Think how helpful this is when you are not near good quality cellphone reception.
The Opel Corsa’s Driving pleasure
The car’s chassis is very comfortable in both town and long trips, and give you great handling. The steering wheel is electric and power assisted so steering is a dream. In City Mode, the Corsa has a speed dependent steering assist that makes the steering wheel incredibly sensitive and also saves you fuel.
On the road the Corsa for sale overtakes easily at high speeds and always has enough power to get you out of any situation. Fuel consumption is low with the car only using 5 liters per 100 km.
Safety was also a big issue in the previous Opel Corsa model, the 2015 version has a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating and comes with all of the modern safety amenities like ABS, EBD and traction control. Engine selection
The main powerhouse for the new Opel Corsa is a natural aspirated 1-Litre turbo that is joined to an automatic transmission. This little engine manages to push out 85 kW of power and 170 Nm of torque. The turbo technology really pulls everything out of the engine and in reality this combination is more powerful than most 1.4 litre engine on the current market.
There is also a 1.4 version on offer that doesn’t have a turbo and this puts out 66kW of power and 130Nm of torque. This is available only in the 1.4L Automatic model.
New Opel Corsa 2015 model highlights
1.0T Essentia: base model that has two options. First option comes with aircon, six speakers and steering-wheel audio controls. Second Option has the 15 inch rims, air conditioner and intelliLink – Base price is: R185 500.
1.0T Enjoy: You get everything from the previous model plus LED daytime running lights, aircon, 16 inch alloy rims. Optional IntelliLink and blind spot alert with front and rear parking sensors. – Base price is: R216 200.
1.0T Cosmo: You get everything from the previous model with cruise control, bi-xenon headlights, auto wipers and headlights, IntelliLink, unique styling, interior ambient lighting, some rather funky cup holders and two seat-back pockets for extra storage. – Base price is: R236 300.
The Opel Corsa 1.4 sport
If the standard Opel Corsa for sale isn’t enough for you, then Opel has an Opel Corsa Sport that might tickle your fancy. This is the flagship of the Opel Corsa range and there are some big improvements. The engine is more powerful, reaching 100 km per hour in 9.6 seconds and a top speed of 204km per hour. The engine is a 1.4 turbocharged powerhouse that puts out 110kW of power and 220Nm of torque.
The suspension has been tightened for less roll around corners and a better steering response. Opel also uses a uniquely designed neutral torque axis mounting system which allows for greater driving comfort and fuel efficiency.
The interior is sporty with a leather steering wheel and new front and back bumpers, side sills, carbon looking side mirrors, alloy pedals and an impressive looking exhaust. 17 inch alloy rims that can be selected in 10 different colour hues.
There is improved traction control, a better electronic stabilizer and a brake assist system to compliment the improved engine. Then you also get all of the gadgets from the Cosmo model like the IntelliLink System and the BringGo GPS system.
The Corsa 1.4 T Sport comes in at R255 200 at the base rate and then you can add on optional extras if you wish.
